The challenge

The goal of the project was to create a critical mass of people ready to work with a new mindset and to identify and empower potential members for a group of internal coaches able to lead projects using new methodologies in the future. Design Thinking, Agile Project Management, Lean Startup and Effectuation were identified as the future skillset for innovation within OMV petrom.

Our approach

• Set-up concrete innovations projects aligned with the strategic goals of the organisation with full management support and attention
• Coach the innovation projects over the period of 100 days with tools coming from Design Thinking, Lean Start-up and Agile
• Offer additional trainings to all OMV Petrom staff to draw attention on the topic

The results

• Over 14 months, 7 projects were incubated (5 in Romania, 2 in Austria) with a typical incubation time of 100 days. Most of the projects were related to Digital Transformation.
• Besides the projects, in-house open training programs were offered to all OMV Petrom staff interested in the new ways of working: over 300 people participated in 2-day trainings for Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Agile.
• Critical success factors for the anchoring of the new toolset were identified and reflected with the top management.
